Your website is a gold mine? Not yet? Let us help you transform it!

A few basic thoughts on what makes a website work for your business best.

“Welcome to our website” ........... or how to begin?

This is the sentence which gives me the goose bumps and not because it’s sooo good to read....and it continues like this....”our company established in 1994....bla, bla....our customers are highly valued....bla, bla, bla...we deliver the best high quality.....bla, bla, bla, bla....and best this and best that....bla, bla, bla, bla, bla”These details are only interesting for those who have already found what they are looking for and would like to see if they can trust you or not. So for company data back off to page 5 or even behind. So what to put on the main page?Imagine a daily newspaper’s front page. What can you see there? The most important and highly valued news headlines plus photos related to that. Well, this is the main idea. Out with the best offer and most popular product. Careful though! You need to avoid over blown marketing feelings. Only a couple of things are necessary as you can’t put all your best products here, but it's also good if the main page is reflects the depth of your whole site. Another problem with the self-promoting article is that anyone can say: "the customer is the most important person to us and we highly value your request, we have ISO9000001110000 certification", etc ... all this sort of self-congratualtion just tries the precious patience of the enquirer. Think about it! How could you prove all this without saying it? Write about the customer, not yourself! Why not give them what they want? The visitor is not interested in how you earn your money and what you do in your building or office, they are interested in what they are getting! Also no one cares about your professional vocabulary. Those who are on top of their business already know you and will go straight to your second page without reading anything on the first, so talk to the new ones and make it understandable. How fresh is your site?Refreshing is extremely important. How would you feel with a site counter saying "this site was last updated in 2004"? I would read two pages probably if I was interested in what they were trying to say and never come back again. You don't have to upload new articles and images every day (it would be ideal though) just make small changes and give information about the life of your company. People like to know everything about places they purchase something from. Many can write well, but very few know how to write well on the Internet. What works on paper doesn’t always work as well on the screen. The best ways to get rid of your visitors are the following common mistakes:- Long continuous blurb - we read a screen much less carefully than a printed page, and no one will print pages just to go through your thoughts.- Irrelevant contents - it's cruel but true: if you have nothing to say don't get a website. No one sold anything just because something is rolling in the left upper corner and nice colors are blinking on the site. - Use of unusual language - just because you know what "embriodifus mascellaris" means doesn't mean your visitors will also know. And they don't need to. It is also very important to have your “key words” in the right place. Key words are the words that will help search engines find your site, and get customers. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. are sensitive and finicky, so it's best to keep to the “one keyword per page”  rule. This whole search engine optimization is a whole lot more difficult but you can get some results just by being fresh and specific.
